Former Donald Trump ally Anthony Scaramucci said Friday that Twitter locked his account after he posted an insult aimed at the president's weight.
Trump had jabbed at a man he thought was an overweight protester during a Manchester, New Hampshire rally, saying: 'That guy's got a serious weight problem. Go home, start exercising.'
Scaramucci tweeted a video excerpt, along with his own commentary: 'Said the fattest President since William Howard Taft . . .'
Telling Axios about his temporary Twitter ban, he said the jab at Trump's girth was probably to blame.
'I think it is related to "fat shaming" President Trump,' he said. 'I should have said he is the largest proportioned President since William Howard Taft. My bad.'
Trump famously fired Scaramucci after just 11 days as White House communications director. The loud-mouthed New York financier lost the job, among other reasons, for launching into a foul-mouthed rant against his co-workers during an interview with a magazine reporter.

The man Trump berated for his weight on Thursday night turned out to be one of his supporters, Frank Dawson, who followed a thin protester down the stairs as he was escorted from the arena.
Dawson laughed it off afterwards, telling Fox News he knew Trump was referring to him.
'He didn't see me ripping the signs away from those three people that were sitting near us, and they were trying to cause a ruckus, and they jumped up and they started yelling stuff, that I don't even care what they were yelling about,' he told the Fox News Channel.
'That wasn't going to happen beside me, because I'm trying to listen to my president,' he said.
'But I think he thought I was part of it, but I wasn't. I was the good part of it.
'He said, 'Hey, that guy needs to lose a little weight!!''
Dawson added: 'Everything's good! I love the guy! He's the best thing that ever happened to this country.'
Scaramucci told an Axios reporter: 'My bad'
Less than a minute after Trump mocked Dawson in front of an international audience, he returned to his teleprompter to tell the crowd: 'Our movement is built on love.'
Trump was rallying his supporters at SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire. He said in a radio interview Thursday morning that 12,000 people had requested tickets.
Some seats inside remained empty, but Trump claimed in a tweet afterward that he had broken an attendance record previously held by Elton John.
He rallied supporters in the same arena in 2016, memorably repeating into his microphone a woman's insult lobbed at then-rival Sen. Ted Cruz. The unidentified Trump fan had called him 'a p***y' for refusing to endorse waterboarding as a form of interrogating terror suspects.
Trump launched searing attacks on his political opponents Thursday night, blasting the Green New Deal and Democrats competing for his job.

'What about a Sleepy Joe Biden rally? Right? Boy, he's made some beauties. I sort of hope it's him. I don't mind any of them. You got Pocahontas [Warren], who's rising. You've got Kamala [Harris]. Kamala is falling. You got Beto [O'Rourle]. Beto is like gone,' he said, twirling his finger next to his head to indicate insanity.
'I don't know that it matters,' the president added. 'But whoever it is ... I don't know, I think Sleepy Joe may be able to limp across the finish line. Might be.'
'But today they announced that they're going to cut way back on his appearances because he is such a disaster they're going to have fewer appearances. You heard this, right? They're going to cut way back on his appearances. Can you believe it?'
'If I ever did that, it would be over,' he declared. 'The fake news would hit us.'
