Previously deported child molester illegally reenters US — and Border Patrol arrests him. Agents also nabbed a sex offender.

Border Patrol agents in Yuma, Arizona, last week arrested a previously deported child molester after he illegally entered the United States with a group of family units, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said.

Yuma Station agents patrolling along the Colorado River apprehended a group of six illegal aliens Wednesday about 10:45 p.m., and a records check revealed that one of them — Juan Rojas-Rodriguez, 41 — is a previously deported Mexican national convicted in 1996 of sex with a minor under 14 years of age in California, the agency said.

Rojas-Rodriguez was last deported in 2008 after immigration officials encountered him at the Lompoc Federal Correction Institution in California, CBP added.

Rojas-Rodriguez has been charged with re-entry as a previously deported aggravated felon, the agency said.
The other five illegal aliens caught by Border Patrol — Guatemalan nationals traveling in family units — are being processed for immigration violations, CBP said.

Border Patrol said it's noticed a trend with human smuggling organizations: They direct illegal aliens straight to CBP agents in order to get arrested — and while agents are busy with arrestees, the smuggling organizations get others into the U.S. illegally.

And for an encore

Border Patrol agents in El Paso, Texas, arrested a previously deported sex offender last week as he attempted to illegally enter the U.S. near the Paso Del Norte port of entry, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said in a separate news release.

A records check revealed that Juan Carlos Bustamante-Pena, 30, was arrested in March 2005 for felony sexual assault and later was convicted, the agency said. He served two years in the Colorado Department of Youth Corrections and was removed from the U.S. in January 2009 — only to be arrested four years later, CBP said. He served 152 days confinement for his illegal reentry into the U.S., the agency added.

Bustamante-Pena's prior order of removal will be reinstated, CBP said, adding that he'll be detained at the El Paso County Detention Facility awaiting his criminal proceedings.
