The founder of Jelly Belly jelly beans has created new line of cannabidiol-infused sweet treats that come in 38 flavors.
Candy inventor David Klein recently launched his new CBD-infused jelly beans, a twist on the iconic candy he created in 1976, Cannabis Aficionadoreported. Each jelly bean is infused with 10 milligrams of CBD oil. CBD or cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive compound derived from cannabis plants.
"I love candy," Klein told Cannabis Aficionado in a recent interview. "Not a day goes by where not only do I eat candy in some form, but I think about new candy ideas."
Klein's original Jelly Belly gourmet jelly beans quickly gained popularity in the late 1970s. He sold the Jelly Belly brand in 1980, but has continued working in the candy industry since.

What made him jump into the edibles market?

Klein said he recently learned about the purported health benefits of CBD.
"And I said to myself, 'Is anybody doing a jelly bean with CBD?'" Klein told Cannabis Aficionado.
When he couldn't find any, he snagged the opportunity to create his own CBD-infused jelly beans.
The beans come in a variety of flavors including toasted marshmallow, mango, strawberry cheesecake, and piña colada, among others.
"Our mango tastes more like mango than mango does," Klein said.

Where are the jelly beans sold?

As of Tuesday afternoon, the jelly beans, which are sold online by Klein's company, Spectrum Confections, were completely out of stock.
Spectrum Jelly Beans are sold in bulk packages of 800 beans and come in original, sugar-free, and sour. The treats are sanded in dextrose or Maltitol to mask the CBD flavor, according to the website.
Interested customers are required to set up an account to learn more about the pricing, which isn't listed on the website. Customers must be 18 or older to purchase the beans.
