Quick: Your father (and father-in-law) has just been elected president of the United States in part by claiming that his opponent was unfit to run the country because she sent e-mails from a private account while serving as secretary of state, an offense so grave that he insisted she should go to jail for it. You’ve just landed a job in the White House that the haters say you in no way deserve, one because of your utter lack of qualifications, and two because of a sense that you’re only in it to enrich yourself. How do you prove them wrong? If
you’re Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, the answer, of course, is to conduct official business over private e-mail and messaging platforms like WhatsApp, including reported correspondence with dictators the C.I.A. says ordered the assassination of a U.S. resident. Then, to really show ’em, you refuse to comply with government requests for information re: your conduct, which, as a reminder, is the same conduct President Daddy said made Hillary Clinton a criminal. Per NBC News

House Oversight Committee Chair Elijah Cummings is giving the White House a final chance to “voluntarily” comply with his investigation into the use of private email accounts by Jared KushnerIvanka Trump and other White House officials before resorting to “alternative means” to obtain the information. In a letter sent Thursday to White House counsel Pat Cipollone, Cummings accused the White House of “obstructing” his committee’s work and called the officials’ practices a potential violation of federal records laws.
Among the committee’s concerns, according to Cummings’ letter, is an admission by Kushner’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, that Kushner “has been using the messaging application WhatsApp as part of his official White House duties to communicate with foreign leaders.” It’s unclear whether the communications may have contained classified information. In the letter, Cummings asks that Cipollone indicate by March 28 whether the White House will comply voluntarily.
Jared and Ivanka, you may recall, only received top-secret security clearance last summer because Trump overrode the concerns of the F.B.I., his then-chief of staff, and the then-White House counsel. Among the concerns over Kushner gaining access to top-secret information were questions about his “foreign and business contacts,” which intelligence officials worried made him a target ripe for manipulation. So it’s definitely not at all concerning that he‘s reportedly been chatting with foreign governments—some of whom have bragged about having Kushner in their “pocket”—on the D.L. (In response to Cummings’s letter, Lowell disputed the congressman’s recollection of their conversation, saying he’d told lawmakers, “If there was a question about Jared’s use of WhatsApp, that is a question for White House counsel, not me.” Lowell also claimed that when he said Ivanka continued to use private e-mail to conduct official business, he was talking about the period before September 2017.)

Outside of Javanka’s electronic communications, other areas of concern for Cummings include former deputy national security advisor K.T. McFarland using a private e-mail account to discuss selling nukes to Saudi Arabia, an idea that reportedly came from from her disgraced ex-boss, Mike Flynn:
Cummings also told Cipollone that the committee obtained a document showing that McFarland was using an AOL.com account to conduct official White House business. Cummings said the document shows that McFarland was in communication with Tom Barrack, a longtime Trump confidant and the chairman of the president’s Inaugural Committee, about transferring “sensitive U.S. nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia.”
The White House acknowledged receiving Cummings' letter but had no immediate response.
Cummings has requested the relevant documents be handed over to his committee no later than April 4. We’re sure the First Daughter and Son-in-Law have told West Wing staff to give the Congressman everything he needs.
