Woman tracks a porch pirate and confronts her on video: 'No way is this happening to me'

It’s true that crime doesn’t pay, especially considering that more and more people are employing technology to deter crimes like package theft.
One Lakewood, Colo., woman was doing chores at her home on Wednesday when she received a notification on her phone saying that someone was at her door. Renee Abeyta assumed it was a delivery person, but when she checked outside, no person or package was there.
The quick-thinking woman found it odd, so she checked the video on her Ring app. The video showed a woman stealing a package directly from her porch.
“I thought, ‘No way this is happening to me,’” Abeyta told KDVR.
Abeyta got into her car and tracked down the woman, eventually exiting her vehicle to confront her, which she recorded on her phone. The alleged package thief took off running, but Abeyta was undeterred.
“The Bad Santa came out of me today,” Abeyta shared on Facebook. “Never would I have ever acted out like this but when someone steals s*** from you on camera my inner self said NO WAY!”
The video she captured is below, and it features profanity, as you could imagine.
“I don’t even know what came out of my mouth or even why I said what I did. It just happened,” Abeyta told the outlet. “I was mad as hell. There was no way I was going to let her go. I would have ran for as many miles as I had to to get my package.”
Eventually, the alleged thief stopped and handed Abeyta her package — a Crock-Pot cover. In the video, despite receiving her package, Abeyta still questions the woman. “What’s wrong with you?” Abeyta asks. “What else you got? I know there’s something else in there.”
