Girls should be taught about orgasms in sex education classes at schools, Labour MP Jess Phillips has said.
The mother-of-two, who is the MP for Birmingham Yardley, says it's important for pupils to learn about sexual pleasure to close the 'orgasm gap.'
Her remarks come as it was revealed that only 65 per cent of straight women 'usually or always orgasm' during sex compared to 95 per cent of men.
In an interview with Grazia magazine, Mrs Phillips, 37, said: 'Women's expectations should be greater, we have to start demanding more.'
She clarified that she wasn't suggesting 'we go into schools and teach children how to masturbate'.
But she added that girls should be taught about orgasms in school.
She revealed that she grew up in a 'naked household' where sex was openly discussed throughout her childhood.
She is the youngest of four children born to parents Stewart Trainor, a teacher, and Jean Trainor, who was Deputy Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation and Chair of South Birmingham Mental Health Trust.
Mrs Phillips, whose husband Tom is her constituency support manager, says she regularly walks around naked at the home she shares with her husband and two sons.
But this, she attributed to mostly 'laziness'.
Mrs Phillips, who campaigned for sex education to be compulsory in all secondary schools by 2020, believes that educating kids about sex, their bodies and relationships is the key to preventing violence against women.
'To liberate women and end violence is to break down the culture of power and imbalance between men and women,' she told the magazine.
'Let's stop people feeling ashamed.'
