A white nurse from Missouri has sparked outrage for her racially offensive Halloween costume where she and her husband sported blackface and dressed up as Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
Shelbi Heenan posed with a smile and a hand on her hip next to her husband Jasmond Heenan in the photo uploaded to Facebook on Monday, but the picture quickly sparked fury on the internet.
In the photo she and her husband cover their face and hands in dark make-up to darken their skin. She sports a wig and a sparkly skirt to look like Beyoncé and her husband, who noticeably darkened his skin more than his wife, wears a beanie hat and chains around his neck in an attempt to look like the rapper Jay-Z.
Just 24 hours after posting the picture, Heenan lost her job.

One angry user Lynese Sade reached out to Heenan's workplace St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, where she was a registered nurse, after seeing the offensive costume.
Writing on Facebook Sade said: 'I do not feel that it is safe having a racist employee working with the public'.
On Tuesday the hospital released a statement saying Heenan was no longer an employee at the hospital following an investigation.
'On Monday afternoon, Saint Luke’s Health System became aware of a Saint Luke’s East Hospital employee who posted photos on personal social media accounts of her and another individual dressed in blackface for what appears to be a Halloween event,' the statement said.
'While it is against Saint Luke’s policy to comment on specific personnel matters, we can confirm that this individual is no longer a Saint Luke’s employee. Saint Luke’s is deeply committed to our culture of diversity and inclusion. It is fundamental to who we are as an organization and we vigorously protect it on behalf of all our patients and employees and expect those who represent us to do the same,' it added.
Heenan has since deleted her Facebook page following the backlash and she has not commented on the photo.
The man in the photo with her was identified as her husband, who works for Costco Wholesale in Independence, by local station KCUR.
The viral photo comes just a week after NBC Today show host Megyn Kelly was axed for defending blackface on her morning hour show.

  2. Why are these absurdities not called out by the mainstream press? Because the mainstream press is mainstream in demonizing white people.

  4. The black crime rate is horrible. This is far worse than anything done by racists.

  5. ....um...it's Halloween. Is St. Luke's going to fire a person who dressed up as Rosanne if I call in and complain? What ass holes. I'd sue their ass off, as what I wear on Halloween, has nothing to do with my job performance. St. Likes can GF themselves...
